July 19, 2019 | 2586 Views
Welcome to July
When we left you last, we had just finished off another amazing trip with Seth Fishman releasing a beautiful 34lber at Selvesson. Since then the fishing has been on fire at both the Head and down south. Returning guests have said this is the best start they have had in 20 years. Tian Head, Selvesson and the Lighthouse has produced some of the best fishing I have seen since my start here 8 seasons ago
Starting off July we welcomed back Bruce and Tony from Delta group.
Bruce And George enjoying some light conversation at the dinner table.
Chef Hawksworth made a spectacular dinner on the Wednesday with a Lamb dish that was unbelievably amazing.
We had a chance to go out with Willie Mitchell and do a little free diving and possible spear fishing. Willie was determined to get a Ling on the spear
As we said goodbye to Delta, we welcomed back former OP manager and long-time friend, Kenny B and family (and extended family) along with brother Chuck and father David, Ken brought along FIL Ian MacDonald for his first ever, salmon fishing experience.
Yes Ken brought his father in law fishing. I set Ian up with the Butcher, and they wasted no time taking advantage of the perfect weather.
The weather was incredible for about a week straight, and all the guest were treated to some of the best fishing conditions of the season.
Dalan Garner caught this 31lber right in front of us at Selvesson.
Shauna Flath with guide cutter
Guide Clay and his guests trolled by us as the whales came through
I had the chance to fish with KB this trip again, and one afternoon we took Erin out for some fun at the Head.
Next up we welcomed back long-time guest and good friend Tony Adrian. Tony brought friend Dick Welton and reunited with guide Clay from their days on the Salmon Seeker.
And with Tony, the request for the always loved kelp wrapped salt baked salmon.
New to the OP, was Jeff Lewis and his group. After many trips to NIL, they decided to give Port Louis a try. Again the weather and the fishing didn’t disappoint with truly the nicest weather weekend of the season. Flat calm and sunny as we always say.
With the derby on Geoff Aldous started the trip with 30lber on day 1. Not to be out done, Damien Nicola caught and released a 33lber day 3 to take the largest salmon prize.
And guide butcher with the release
Even I managed to get out for a fish. We caught this 31lb beast at the head
July has been flying by, with crazy fishing and epic weather.
Check back soon for another report from Port Louis.
Cheers,
Jordan Knight
