Fish OnBy Jordan KnightJuly is almost over, and it’s time for another update from down in Port Louis. The last 2 weeks has seen some pretty prolific action rolling through, and we have been lucky enough to expose our guests to some of the best of what the West Coast has to offer. We welcomed back Jeff Marin and his crew for an epically sunny and flat week on the water.Temperatures in Tian Bay had reached record levels with guest and guide alike shedding suits and boots, to enjoy and lap up the rays.
Cody Voorhoost pulled out the beauty while on the salmon troll.
Meanwhile Casey Clerkson getting into some action.
The boys back at the lodge tucking into a nice crab feed
We said goodbye to the group and welcomed in our next guests.Guest Jon Bridgewater showing off a nice mid twenties.
I myself was on the water again this trip and had long time returning buddy Greg Elaschuk. Greg entertained me with his takes of fishing chinook in the great lakes.
After a little jigging, we pulled up something I have never caught before.
Mike Pacey pulled out a nice 30lber on this trip on the second day.Lots of perfect hali rolling in, in the 30-40 range, with the spring average around 18-22.
Landon Mclnall also landed a 30lb tyee on his 3rd dayBack in the lodge the chefs are always ready to impress
Heidi never missed the chance to shake a stick at it.
Out on the water, we have the butcher showing the guest some double ups.
Simon Sutcliff showing off back at the dock.
Marc Lortie all smiles.
Next we welcomed back Tony Adrian back again this season, and Paul and Charlie Brau. Tony has come back to enjoy the OP hospitality once more bringing Howard Grodensky for another round.
Charlie was getting chirped all week about his banana suit.
Here is Paul with his 26lber on the scale.
The lighthouse has been firing on all cylinders in the last week. We are tubing out on average in less than half a day. The coho have come in thick as well, with 11lbers coming in regularly.I myself took a couple staff members down yesterday, and within 2 hours we had our limit. Lucky we went, because I was just about to move when a call came through from the butcher asking if I had my camera.Low and behold Adam Conner had just boated this beauty 30lber on the turn.
The Tubs are coming in here hard and fast. There are lots of fish, with fresh runs of Chinook showing up all the time. The Coho have arrived in force and fishing south has been as good as ever. I’ve had multiple guests say this is the best fishing they have ever had in HG.
Until next update, keep your spoons shiny.CheersJordan
