North Island Lodge Fishing Reports
NIL Report: Hot August Days – August 9, 2019
August 9, 2019 | 2221 Views
August’s first week has been plentiful for our anglers. Lots of action and notable catches all over the island were recorded. We are hoping “Hog-ust” continues throughout the month as we have already seen some notable tyee and try-ee catches!
We had an all guided trip with the Allwest Electric group the past weekend. With a good mix of experienced and rookie anglers we had a blast on the water all weekend. Due to some strong Northwest winds most of the fish were caught between Andrews and Coho points, as well as Bruin Bay and Guinea Point. Ryan Cooley had the solo tyee of the trip weighing in at 31lbs. Notable try-ee’s were angled by Surinder Pal Gaught (29lbs) and Jason Singh (28lbs).
Healthy runs of coho and chinook continued to come our way for our second trip of the week. The top catch was by returner guest Rodney Dow with an impressive 34lb chinook out of Bruin Bay. The second tyee of the trip was by James Bixler, with a 32lb release at the Fish Bowl – the same place he caught his 40lber just last season! Larry Krawchuk caught a 29lb chinook and other notables were from Mark Dreith (26lbs), Colleen Crawford (26lbs), Dan Crawford (25lbs) and Debrah Spencer (25lbs).
Once again we are excited about the action on the water, good times, and of course our great guests that will continue to pour in this month. We also want to extend a huge congratulations to the Outpost on their 60+ pound catch from this week – way to go team!
Tight Lines,
Macgregor Johnston, North Island Lodge Guide
