Things are beginning to heat up here at North Island for week three of the season. With coho showing up and some strong numbers being caught in more areas of Langara, some exciting days were had over these last two trips.
Another day on Langara Island with the extraordinary wildlife. Our weekend trip brought a ton of action off of Langara Rocks with anglers hooking chinook in the teens and a good amount of coho as well. Coho Point was also a hot spot for the weekend as self guided Korey Roberts landed a 42lb chinook in which he released, followed by a 34lb to take home the very next day!Coho and Andrews Point were the most consistent spots to find fish during our long trip but the tyees were caught along the Graham shoreline, right were they’re supposed to be. Our top angler/guide combos for this trip were Ben Gunn and sophomore guide Morgan Johnston bringing in a 35lb release from Gunia Point, alongside Brian Plumb and veteran guide Bryce Belyea who retained a 32lb from the Fish Bowl. Other honourable mentions for great catches go to John Boote and Marc Versage who caught 29lb and 26lb respectively with guide and legend, D.J. Shinduke. Father, Pat Versage edged his son Marc in the halibut catches this week with a 27lb compared to his 24lb which were the top retentions for this trip.
Guide Bryce Belyea and Brian Plumb with a 32 lb tyee.Until next week, tight lines!Macgregor Johnston, North Island Lodge Guide
