NIL Report: Strong Run of Chinook & Coho – July 26, 2019
July 26, 2019 | 2710 Views
Some wild and wacky weather along with a strong run of both chinook and coho came through this week and action on the water was hot and heavy. Even something that has happened only once before in a North Island boat reoccurred this week! Hot spots once again were the Lighthouse and Langara Rocks as well as Coho Point.
The weekend trip started out strong with a large number of teeners being caught as well as some bigger halibut and a solo “try-ee” angled by Katherine Kiernan. Katherine also received a lifetime catch in the form of a proposal from partner Beau Flom! Congratulations to both on the engagement! The two were on fire reeling in 30lb and 39lb halibut on the first afternoon. Other notable fish caught this trip was a 24lb chinook by Bruce Vereshagen.
Our four day trip was an annual exclusive that brought the Borton Group to our lodge. They had some interesting weather during their trip and some impressive numbers caught! Again the solo “try-ee” was caught by Barb Borton, and notable mention goes to Caden Rubright with his 24lb spring. Many others were caught in the 15-22lb range this week so we are excited to see these numbers elevate as we move closer to August!
Chat next week! Tight Lines,
