Fishing continuing to strengthen with each passing day and the North Island Lodge guides are anxious to top Screamer's season leading 45 pounder that he put his guests on this past week. We're coming for you Mike!We have been fishing close to home and mainly insight of the lodge recently with spots like Channel Reef and Bruin Bay producing fish. Halibut fishery continues to be strong up here as lots of bi-catch Halis on the Salmon gear continue to be caught in the 25 to 50 pound range - perfect take home.Highlight from the past week is hands down from a self-guided expedition lead by Jim and Nikki Ensberry that resulted in a beauty 35lb Tyee being caught. Bruin Bay 18 feet on the rigger always a good chance at a nice fish in there.
* Jim and Nikki Elsberry with their 35lb Tyee. Since I now manage the lodge and am no longer out on the tack day in and day out it's always special to get out fishing when I am able - especially with great guests like the father daughter due of Ken and Alexis Gardner. I took the two of them out one afternoon and we fished Cohoe and Gunia hard all afternoon. We were trolling over at Gunia one at 15 and one at 40 on the rigger and both go off and we thought we had a double, but quickly realized it was one fish. Needless to say, never a dull moment out on the water.
" Ken and Alexis Gardner all smiles with a nice mid twenties Chinook.
* Alexis solo shot.
* Need some proof that I was there of course.
* Back at the dock a few more shots with the take homes.
