The Clubhouse Report July 1 ~ "Six tyees between 30 and 34lbs."

The tyees are trickling through today here at Langara, six tyees between 30 and 34 lbs. About 10 tons of herring are hanging off Cohoe Point and hopefully a large school of spring Salmon will show up in the next day or two.Below is a picture of Gloria Ikard, still a top angler at age 82, setting hooks and cranking in mid twenties no problem at all. Gloria has fished all her life and spent as many hours out there on the chuck as anyone during her visit.

*Gloria IkardThe west shore group had some nice fish, no pictures were passed on, but I saw Korey grab a 36 with his guests out at Cohoe point in a Southeast gale, the fish pec hooked and proved pretty challenging to land. We all roared out on this news and soon were filling our totes with mid twenties, mostly grabbed on cable 90 feet deep, some down 125 feet. Yes, thankful we have 27 foot boats and down riggers when she is blowing south east 38 out at Cohoe Point!Yes the weather was tough on the last trip, but fortunately the fish cooperated somewhat for most of us. Below is a picture of Peter, one of our new guides and some good sports from the Westshore group, posing at the scale with a fish only Pete could be proud of, looks like a 5 lb silver. Nice picture I thought.

They worked hard for this one, one bite, one fish, well done guys.Fishing today was spotty, three tyees taken at Cohoe Point, and two at the Jalun, and not a lot backing these fish up. The rock dogs are a nuisance at this time, saw one snatch a 40 plus off a self guide this pm, took em 20 minutes to digest it. Not so fun seeing your trophy six feet in the air, being shredded and ripped apart, eagles bombing the remnants, nature can suck sometimes!Let's hope tomorrow the Chinook return in numbers, off to the sack, check back soon.Mike Tonnesen, Head Guide, Screamer
