We make every effort to update our fishing reports as frequently as possible throughout the season with the most current information we receive from our lodge managers.
No experience is necessary — many of our guests are first-time anglers. Our professional guides provide all the instruction, equipment, and support you’ll need, from learning the basics to landing your first fish.
Yes — we have a number of partner hotels that we recommend for before and after your trip, many of which offer preferred rates for our guests. You’ll find the full list, along with booking details, on our Before You Go page.
The Fairmont, Sheraton, Marriott, and Versante hotels all offer shuttles to the South Terminal, as do most Richmond hotels. Rosewood Hotel Georgia provides group shuttles (10+ guests), and a complimentary service runs between YVR’s Main and South terminals.
Your trip begins at YVR’s South Terminal (4440 Cowley Crescent, Richmond, BC V7B 1W4), about 10 minutes by car from the main international terminal. Guests must arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 AM on departure day, which usually requires an overnight stay in Vancouver the night before.
Check-in begins at 7:00 AM at The South Terminal.
Arrival at Vancouver’s South Terminal is scheduled for 3:00 PM, barring unforeseen delays. We recommend booking connecting flights no earlier than three (3) hours later for domestic travel and four (4) hours later for international travel.
Barring unforeseen delays you should arrive at the lodge shortly after 11 AM.
Air transportation from Vancouver to Masset is by an Avro RJ100 aircraft. You will then be transported to the lodge via S76 helicopters.
Haida Gwaii is a temperate rainforest — light rain is common almost daily, averaging ¼" to ½" in 24 hours. During the fishing season, temperatures range from 10–21°C (50° to 70°F).
Please pack all medications, ID, and electronics in your carry-on bag. Bring warm, layered clothing for under your rain gear, plus sunglasses, sunscreen, a bathing suit for the hot tub, and any personal essentials.
All belongings must fit into one 25-pound soft-sided bag, so we appreciate your help in respecting this limit. And don’t forget your camera — you’ll want to capture it all.
Most guests prefer comfortable layers; long underwear or sweatpants, long sleeved t-shirt or turtleneck plus a fleece or sweater. Warm, thick, comfortable socks and a toque are also advisable. Please note we provided fully waterproof pants, jackets, and boots for your time on the water.
The Clubhouse has hairdryers in each guest room and The Outpost housekeeping staff would be happy to provide you with a hair dryer upon request.
The Clubhouse gym has all the work out equipment you will need to burn off any excess energy after a long day out on the water. You will find cardio machines such as a Peloton, along with a variety of free weights. The spa facilities are complete with a sauna, 2 hot tubs, and massage room with a full time Massage Therapist on staff.
Dining at The West Coast Fishing Club is every bit as memorable as the fishing. Our chefs highlight the best of British Columbia with fresh local seafood, premium meats, and seasonal ingredients, paired with a curated wine cellar, craft cocktails, and zero-proof creations. Meals are served in elegant lodge dining rooms overlooking Haida Gwaii’s rugged coastline — a setting as unforgettable as the cuisine.

If you've purchased a guided package, it entitles you to 10 hours per day on the water; typically 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Our self-guided guests may fish from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM in order to allow for enough time to locate boats before dark.
Apart from unbelievable scenery and wildlife cruises, The Clubhouse features a workout room, two hot tubs, sauna and on-site masseuse. The Outpost has a hot tub as well as kayaks that can be used to explore beautiful Port Louis.
Gratuities for Shore Staff, Massage Services, and Fishing Guides can be added to your room charges at the end of your stay and can be paid by credit card or cash. Our suggested gratuity ranges reflect the industry standard. If you would like to leave a gratuity we offer the following guidelines:

Our package includes the cleaning, packaging, vacuum packing, and flash freezing of your fish for taking home. Should you wish to consider specialty processing we can forward your fish to St Jeans Cannery for smoking, canning, and direct shipping options.
Your fish will be flash frozen and should easily endure your return day's worth of travel. If you are spending the night in Vancouver at the end of your trip, make sure you ask the hotel to store your catch in their freezer until you leave. All of our partner hotels offer fish storage and handling.
Each of our partnering hotels offer fish storage for the duration of your stay.
