The weather turned a little grey and wet for the final day of the tournament but not the spirit of the event or its competitors...
Manny Malhotra...the smile says it all for his first Haida Gwaii fishing expereince.The morning bite was off with only a few fish being called in and nothing to rival Sean Salem's 34 pound Tyee from the day before.Was there going to be an afternoon bite?A few fish started to get called in. Nicholas Siqueria the Champion Child managed to get his first ever Chinook pictured here with father Edmund.
Things were looking up and the fish started to get bigger...

Then with an hour to go in the tournament there was a call from veteran Clubhouse Guide Kenny Tsang from the fish bowl...they needed a weight boat. The radio went silent as the fleet awaited the results..."Tournament Master we have a fish to report; Angler Mike Abbey, Location Fish Bowl, Length 42, girth 28, weight 41.6 pounds"A NEW LEADER...
With an hour to go they knew the had the winner!What a fish!That night Mike gave back all of his winnings ($200,000.00) to the Canucks Autism Network as did all the other prize money winners...
