The Outpost Report: August 22, 2008

Our last trip was very representative of the outstanding fishing we have experienced all season at The Outpost Lodge. The Burk, Cavenah and Cheung group of guests went home with an abundance of Chinook in the 15 – 30 lb range, Coho in the 8 – 13 lb range and Halibut in the 25 – 124 lb range. Salmon and Blue Sharks are starting to invade the waters, the Eagles are heading south and gale force winds are knocking at the door so it is time to close up shop. The weather this year has been sporadic but thankfully the fishing has been consistent in all categories.

Here are the statistics for 2008:
Largest Chinook Retained – Bill McGaw – 62 lbs – June 11
Largest Chinook Released – Rob Torbeck – 44 lbs – June 19
Largest Coho Retained – Chris Dicianna – 15 lbs – August 16
Largest Halibut Retained – Mike Bird – 207 lbs – July 3
Largest Halibut Released – David Dore – 250 lbs – July 10
Largest Ling Cod Retained – Randy Matthews – 36 lbs – July 16
Largest Red Snapper Retained – Kevin Summer – 16 lbs – August 9

This season could not have been a success without the dedication of our hard working staff and the outstanding service they provided to our guests…..Great Job Team Outpost!
