Well, I finaly realize why Ken needed to take some time off from the OP, Managing is TOUGH….
The hot tub is never the correct temperature, the champagne is not the kind I like, and don’t get me started on the food….
Worst of all, I cannot maintain a steady trolling speed!!! DEWY!!!!
Enough about me and more about fishing the west side of the Haida Gwaii!! Yesterday and today were great, in total we had 5 Hali releases ranging from 130-160 pounds and 12 ranging from 16-90 pounds brought into the dock! I cannot believe how productive the Halibut grounds have been this year!!!
Darin and Dean, fishing with Big Fish Ben, did well yesterday, catching two beautiful halis and some perfect springs to boot. Dean took the lead for this trip with a 33 pounder!! Nice work!!!
Paul also brought in a nice Tyee yesterday, coming in a close second after Dean with a 32lbs’er!
Today was GREAT on the fishing front, some boats claimed to have over 50 springs to the boat and other say over 75!!! From left to right Mike with a 28 pounder, Darin with a 31, and Bruce with a 41 to take the derby!!! Last but not least is Brian, holding a 29 but released a 35 pounder today! Great job!!!
All in all, it was another great trip at the OP, the weather was outstanding and fish were plentiful!! I hope to see you guys next year!!!
Kenny B is back in the saddle tomorrow, so I will be retiring from the computer(hot tub, and paddle board) and heading back out on the water. It has been torture this past week not being able to get out and catch a few fish!!!
