Here at The Outpost, we are winding our way down to the season finale. Counting down to our last few trips we always have to look back on a season of great fishing, great trips and amazing experiences. We have made another round of good friends we hope to have back again in the seasons to come.In this last little while we welcomed back Leila Riddall. Along with friends Jancie, Tanya and Kirk, Leila returned after over 8 years hiatus. Quickly memories of working the dock and bombing around in the boats had her feeling nostalgic. Here we are seagulled up to Big Carl, on the Hali hunt.
Here is Janice fighting on one of our many double headers at the Head. Fishing up north here lately has been bonkers. Carl reports having hooked nearly 50 springs the other day. Not bad in 3+ metre swell.
We took a little time off from the Chinook bite to visit the ever glorious Ingram Bay.
Close on their heels were the Lila Clan. This extended family was about as pumped to be here as I have ever seen.
A little friendly competition yielded Jimmy Lila this beauty 31lber
Looks like it might have a got a little heavy for Jimmy
Arif, Zahir and Hasnain holding out the days catch. These guys were all smiles and having a blast.
Ali Lila made things interesting tying Jimmy with a 31lber of his own. Ali also took the trip Halibut with a 76 inch 235lb dinosaur. Thanks for the Hali hole Ben.Here we have Arif modelling his new Halibut skin shoulder bag.
Khalil and Husnain showing off twin 60+ lbers
Ali and Jimmy went out head to head on the last day, and alas Jimmy pulled out the winner. It taped out to 39.6 lbs. Our biggest this season Congrats JimmyIn the meantime, we visited a few of the old spots. Coats Creek Salmon ladder keeping strong. Thanks to the efforts of Salmon Unlimited, Mr. Grange and Mr. Legge, projects like these are thriving all over Haida Gwaii.
Meanwhile back at the ranch, Paul takes the KRUD cake again. He’s slowly losing the moniker of Dead Ball Paul.
This last trip we saw some great weather and we took full advantage.
As we wrap up our last few trips, we always reflect on how fast the season flies by. But despite the speed, it always incredible how much we manage to pack in. I’m really proud of the service culture we have strived to maintain here at The Outpost. Guests always comment on it to me. They say they feel like they are part of a family and always feel welcome. This is the identity we intend to continue here at The OP. I hope we see you one day too.I know at least one guy who gonna be sad to see us go.Until next timeJordan KnightGeneral Manager, The Outpost
