NIL Report: Tyees & High Twenties - June 21, 2019

June 21, 2019

Week two of the season was a humbling one here at North Island Lodge. Fishing conditions for the week showed highs and lows, as did the weather, while the quality of fish just seemed to keep showing up. Our anglers found fish at a number of different spots this week including big catches from Bruin Bay, Andrews Point, and Boulder Bay.

Aerial views of Langara Island. This weekend trip provided good enough water conditions for our guests to fish all around Langara Island. Excursions to the west side of the island brought in notable halibut catches by Jack Schafer (30lbs) and Dennis Smerchanski (40lbs). Our big chinook retentions from this trip includes Bill Kalt (28lbs), Tracey Branser (29lbs), Len Kazakoff (29lbs), and Greg Raitt (29lbs). We had one tyee release from angler Stan Weismiller taping out to 34lbs.

Stan Weismiller and guide Macgregor Johnston with a 34 lb release! We finished our week off with a slight drop in numbers of fish but no lack in size for a few notable tyee catches! The tyee anglers include Mark Smith (30lbs), Merl Lindstrome (32lbs), Richard Vine (32lbs), and George Peck (36lbs). While all who recorded tyees this trip, the one who stole the show was Justin Allen with guide Morgan Johnston recording a beautiful 40lb release on Tuesday followed by a 36lb on Wednesday!
