June 25, 2014

As promised in my last blog, here is the proof that you can catch fish on just about any piece of gear out here. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the special edition Rory North Chinook slayer!

*Zoom in on the spoon for full appreciation of some of the finest lure craftsmanship on the coast!Once Rory and company headed home on Friday to conclude a great trip 4, the boys from Bayview Construction, out of Winnipeg, took us by storm! Although the weather was rather wet, everybody ended up catching their fair share of Springs and Halibut. Even though fishing was rather decent during this weekend trip, the catch of the weekend belonged to Joel Martens and John Motkaluk who had the incredible chance to spot 2 enormous glass balls, 1 each. All with the help of our very own Jordan Knight, now known as the great GB spotter and provider.

*Look at the size of those GBs...Here are a few more pics from the Bayview group.

*Nice group hot on the final morning. Thanks again to the Bayview boys for a great time. First class all the way boys! Hope to see you all again soon.Trip 6 was a little challenging out of the gate as the weather was really wet and a brisk south east wind was blowing. Most of our guests were really grateful for the fire burning as they came back. With the slow start to the trip our core of veteran guides took matters in their own hands for day 2 and 3 as some of them ventured far and wide to find the fish. And boy did it ever pay up! It seemed that anywhere the boys showed up, there was fish..and good ones too!! My long time friend Ed Yurkowski and his grandson Michael were almost limited out by the end of day 3 and had to release a tyee to keep a spot open! Now that is a great dilemma to have!Randy Hansen got his 2nd tyee of the trip on wednesday down at Freeman to top off a 20 fish day!

Put aside the odd weather glitch and this stellar season keeps on getting better. If you dont believe me, look at this beauty caught by Ron Smith, very close from home at 3 Rocks.
