The Outpost~~ "To Fish or Not to Fish"

That was the question for the group today "To Fish or not to Fish". Half the group went on an adventure to Glass Ball Beach, which is a 25 minute or so hike through the temperate rainforest. They scoured the beach for random interesting finds and enjoyed a nice salmon feast over a beach fire.

Here is the hiking crew, Poppa D, Paras, Sammy, David, Emrah, Ryan, Kevin and Gary. No glass balls were found but it was a memorable experience for all involved.

Sammy and Poppa D(Peter) showed the group how salmon was traditionally cooked over an open flame. You cannot beat cooking over an open flame and the cedar gives the salmon a great smoky flavour.

Not much remained after these vultures(or should I say eagles) were done with it!!The other half of the group went out fishing and SLAYED them!! The first few halis of the year hit the dock this morning, also the first(but definitely not last) Tyees were caught as well. The first Tyee of the year was released by Dave, a nice 33lbr, I guess karma is paying off with the full catch and release program.

The second tyee of the season guided by Big Fish Ben and valiantly fought by Dana was also released, it taped out to 35lbs. The bay is producing some larger models!!!

Can anyone say Sushi time?? Hannah and Gwen display some excellent Tamago and Dungeness Crab, Smoked Salmon Rolls. Chef Paul is hovering in the background inspecting his work!!
