OUTPOST UPDATE: WCFC IN THE NEWS, FISHING PICTURES & UPDATES:
All WCFC lodge managers and owners are in Vancouver this week for the first time since the season end. We’re in meetings this week to wrap up 2009 and look ahead to 2010. The end of the season saw two special events occur at the Clubhouse in September; Fishing for Kids and the David Hawksworth & Friends Culinary Adventure. The Culinary Adventure was written up in Saturday’s Vancouver Sun, it’s a great article if you managed to catch it on the front page of the travel section…click to read the article.

Below is David & friends cooking away in the Clubhouse Dining room…

The Fishing for Kids Tournament (FFK) managed to raise a total of $356,750.00 this September for the BC Children’s Hospital and the Canucks Autism Network. This was the fourth year of the event which has now raised a total of $1,750,000.00 for the Charities. Here was this year’s group ready to depart from the south terminal…     There will be a recap of the event Tuesday Oct 27th on Global news at 11pm west coast time as well as a cheque presentation before the Canucks hockey game on Tuesday night. For more information on the event you can go to http://www.fishingforkidstournament.com/ which launches later today. Here are some photo highlights from the FFK event starting with Steve, Pierre and guide Todd as they battle a tripple header. Steve ended up losing his fish which wrapped around that fourth rod before breaking off and was apparently “A MONSTER”…
Courtney spots a “FISH ON” from her marshal boat, camera crew in tow…
It was a fabulous event, all catch and release with the grand prize going to the largest Chinook, I was in one of the weigh boats which taped and measured each fish before release. Here was the winning fish at an estimated 34 pounds going back into the water…     It wasn’t the only thing I wanted to release, after 3 days and almost 30 hours on the water with my lovely assistant Trina Prior from BC Children’s Hospital I’d about had enough…     I thought a cold plunge might quell the incessant chatter…I was wrong! So visit the website and consider joining us for one of these fun events next year. OUTPOST STAFF UPDATES: Pierre and I are back from our Steelhead trip to Northern BC, here are a few more photo highlights: A fresh Skeena hen…     A Buck showing off his rouge cheeks…     Fall colours on the Skeena with a jet boat to match…
Kateri Clay, sister of OP server Kaili Clay fishes behind the “big rock” on the Skeena, that’s a BIG piece of water…sometimes its hard not to feel lost and hopeless out there…     The Skeena clouds and mountains never seem to detach this time of year…
Making conditions a little glary on the water…     You’ve got to put in your time to catch a steelhead (not to mention 10,000 casts)…in my mind its time well spent. I just received an email from KAILI CLAY who is currently in Australia, has bought a van and plans to take a road trip through the middle of the country up to Darwin and then down the east coast ending up back in Melbourne…SEND some pictures Kaili! LAURA MOSBY is in Egypt seen here with her mom in front of the pyramids…
Laura has been to the Red Sea, Cairo, down the Nile and survived the 42 Celsius degree heat.  I haven’t heard from the boys other than BABOO who sent me an email with this update…  “It’s official, we are giving up our fishing charters in Bamfield and going full bore in Roatan, Honduras. The boat is being prepared for the land trip to Miami to be placed on a freighter to Honduras. We will be starting two dive shops this winter to complement our other shops, so it’s going to be busy.” Pictures Baboo we need pictures! Congrats it sound like you’ll be having fun down there. That’s enough from me for this week, stay tuned next week for an insight into life on a BC commercial boat, some exciting WCFC developments and other fun updates. I welcome any news you may have so please send photos and stories to kenbeatty@westcoastfishingclub.com
