…it looks fabulous! He’s promising to release a couple of images soon. So stay tuned and its full steam ahead for the newest WCFC property.
The Clubhouse’s own Stephanie Beachy is in the office this week going through resumes and finalizing her team in the dining room for the summer. Here she is making her way through the 100’s of resumes that we receive online every year…
Bookings continue to be strong at all three lodges. To give you some perspective we had 232 guests visit the Outpost last year. This year we have 224 guests confirmed already, so we’re not anticipating much if any short notice opportunities. So if you want to be on this chopper…
A couple of weeks back a combination of Outpost, North Island and Clubhouse guides attended a special “Small Vessel Operator Proficiency” (SVOP) training course in Vancouver. Our instructor covered a wide range of topics: navigation, buoyancy, signaling and weather. It’s a new Transport
requirement targeting small commercial vessels. Rest assured that WCFC guides are now up to date and compliant with all safety and licensing tickets. These tickets include: The SVOP, MEDA3 (Marine Emergency Duties) and ROC (Radio Operator Card). Here’s a shot of the guides engaged in a trajectory training exercise using toy boats and vectors…
If you added up the years spent on the water WCFC has the most experienced and certified guiding staff on the coast!
For those of you visiting NIL or the Clubhouse this summer as self-guided guests the new regulations have some relevance to you…
”operators of pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes need to have proof of competency on board at all times.”
Proof of competency can take 1 of 3 forms:
- A Pleasure Craft Operator Card
- Proof of having successfully completed a boating safety course in
prior to April 1, 1999
- A completed rental-boat safety checklist.
For NIL and CH self guided guests, if you have 1 or 2 GREAT! If not you’ll have to go through #3 on the dock before heading out for the day…

OUTPOST NEWS: I’m thrilled to announce that both our lovely ladies will be returning to share another season with you…
This will be Laura’s third year and Kaili’s second. They’re both really excited and we look forward to the life they bring to the lodge.
Chef Mike Diamond has been offered a fabulous opportunity as the “Chef de Cuisine” at a new restaurant opening in Montreal this July. He’ll get to see the restaurant through from design to completion influencing the look, feel and menus. Although Mike was planning on returning to the OP he can’t pass up this opportunity. Although we’re sad to see him go we’re thrilled for him personally. He will be missed but stay tuned as we’re in the process of finding his replacement. We wish you well Mike, come and visit us soon!
I’d like to welcome Pierre Morel back to the Outpost as the head guide for 2010. Pierre’s passion for fishing and customer service is second to none. He’s helping me put together a top notch guide crew so stay tuned for those announcements soon. Welcome back Pierre, we’re all looking forward to having the Frenchman on board for another season.
That’s all for this week,
