The 2009 fishing season is underway at the Outpost in Port Louis, QCI. Our returning Chef Mike Diamond holds the 2009 season’s biggest Chinook thus far at 61 lbs, the fish was measured and released on the evening of June 2nd. The day previous the guides set out to explore the regular “hot spots” (Three rocks, Wash rock, GillianPoint and BrockIsland) to get an early indication of the fishing. A number of fish were landed and two Tyees (Chinook’s over 30 lb’s) were released in the hopes that you’ll be here to catch them as 40 lbers.

We’ve assembled an excellent staff with some familiar faces and some new, I’ll take a moment to introduce them.

Guides:

In the Boats this year we’re pleased to have Matt Brown returning to the line up, Matt was previously the Head guide at the Outpost for 8 years and I doubt anybody has more time on the water out of Port Louis than he does. He’s going to be training the returning and new guides extensively on the areas and as early fishing indicators go, THERE ARE BIG FISH AROUND!
Joining him are; Norm Hann, Bob Brown and Robert Gordy (all returning for their second season at the outpost), JP Biron (new to the Outpost but has been with the WCFC for the last 2 seasons), Pierre Morel (new to the Outpost and has over 20+ years experience), Stacey Beard (new to the Outpost has 20+ years guiding and outfitting experience, including some time at the Clubhouse), Mike Panz (new to the Outpost and formerly guided on the central BC coast and the Clubhouse).

Cooks:

We’re very pleased to have Michael Diamond returning for his second season as the Head Chef at the Outpost. Michael is a very talented chef who has worked in some of the best restaurants in BC. Joining Michael in the Kitchen this year is Sous Chef Doug Clark, Doug has worked with Michael in Whistler and is an incredibly hard worker and excited about the menu this year. Doug has also found a new passion for fishing after catching and releasing his first ever Salmon which was estimated at 32 lbs.

Inside Staff:

Laura Mosby will be back for her second season taking the lead in house ensuring your comfort and enjoyment of the Lodge experience. Joining her this year is Kaili Clay who has spent the last 5 years as a server and fishing guide on the central coast.

Dock Staff:

Both Wayne White and Milan Wejr will be back on the dock for their second season taking care of your fish and maintaining the grounds.

I’m pleased to announce that West Coast Fishing Club has brought me on as the General Manager of the Outpost, which is hands down my favorite place to fish for salmon on the BC coast. There is no other place like this in Canada and I’m very excited for the upcoming season.
