The Outpost Report: June 17, 2010

June 17, 2010

OUTPOST UPDATE: Once upon a time there was a very thirsty young man named Charlie. The exertion from fishing all day made him particularly thirsty and it seemed that no matter how much he drank he still felt parched. He worried that there wouldn’t be enough to quench his thirst during his visit at the Outpost. Luckily for Charlie we stop at no lengths to make sure our guests are taken care of and early one morning he was greeted with a little surprise…

Charlie was so happy he started to share with everyone…

or anything as this photo shows. He claims it helps marinate the fish…that crazy Charlie.

Speaking of crazy; Dave and Clem were playing a beautiful 70+ pound halibut but by the time it got back to the dock it only weighed 36lbs?...

Any guesses what happened? Answer at the end of this report. Joe managed to get all of his 40 lb halibut back to base…

Well done Joe! Mike and Garry did a full day trip down south with guide Mike Panz and came back with a couple of nice fish…

Here’s an action shot of Garry out on the water…

Look like fun? Better book for next year as were 100% full this season! Other news; it was one of the most popular lunches today…

Our chefs do a fab little meley of fish which is fast becoming a guest favorite. I made it out today for the afternoon with Bob, Jason and guide Ben…

Unfortunately for them with me in the boat they spent most of the day sitting down…I guess I haven’t been out on the water that much, sorry guys. there was the usual chit chat, stories and excitement on the docks…

And tonight at dinner John made a number of toasts…

and Charlie was relieved to be able to drink for each of them. You’ve been a great group and lots of fun. Hope to see you next year,

Ken & the OP crew

pps. The halibut was eaten by a killer whale right behind the boat as they were trying to land it, TRUE STORY!
