The Outpost Fishing Reports

The Outpost Report: June 12, 2010

OUTPOST UPDATE: Gale force is no way to start the season but it’s the hand we’ve been dealt and everyone slogged through it today with mixed results. Here’s a shot of JP after his morning shift…making it look like quite a nice day…

We’ve had everything from pouring rain, sun, hail and “ice rain” according to Baboo. The wind on the water is blowing south the clouds in the sky moving north. It’s a tough one out there and the guests stuck it out and managed to come back with a few fish. Most notably was David who caught his first EVER fish today with head guide Pierre. I didn’t know that was possible to live a life without catching a fish. David explained he was from the prairies. Well you’re a fisherman now David…

Father and son (Neil and Case) brought back a fish and Case was taught how to make an 10 lb salmon look like 25…

Just a little closer to the camera…that’s it! The biggest fish went to the biggest Hawaiian (at least in Port Louis), after “farming” a 28+ lber yesterday Greg came home with nice Chinook today …

Way to go Greg! I wanted to throw in a typical dock scene now that the wheels are in motion….

…checking the totes, fish on the scale and mild ribbing making for a fun day.

I’ve posted a lot about the Chef’s lately but we just discovered something new about Michael. He was the Chicken de-boning champion of Alberta winning the “cutthroat” competition by shredding through 7 chickens in 5 minutes. So many hidden secrets and talents here at the OP…

With 14 guests in house I expect dinner should be ready in 10 minutes.

I’ll end with our completed guide shack reno: with cover for the guests and more a efficient vac-packing area to freeze your fish. Thanks to Ronne and Bryan for such a nice job, here are a couple shots…

WOW! Thanks again guys.

Here’s hoping the weather or the fishing improves soon!
