The Outpost Fishing Reports

The Outpost Report: July 28, 2009

July 28, 2009 | 434 Views

TUESDAY FISHING REPORT: It was a beautiful day in almost every respect; sunny, clear beautiful but with a Gale warning and winds from 30-40 knots it was tough. The commercial boats didn’t leave their hiding places in Port Louis today because…"when the northwesterns blow you won’t get a bite", I asked why to which they had no answer just "I don’t know but you won’t catch anything, when it stops blowing however you better be out there because they haven’t eaten in 3-4 days". So that doesn’t do much for the guests that are here now. We made every and all efforts today and a few fish were caught. Per was the first and only one to strike Chinook in the morning, here he is with a 20 and a 17 lber…

Per we can’t see you under that hat…ahhh that’s better…

Two lovely Chinooks, well done Per! Then in the afternoon it was a real adventure as the winds continued to build. A couple of boats pounded green waves to fish at Selveson and all the way to Hippa and just as the commercial guys predicted it was DEAD. Victor and Christian have grown a love for the big water and fished Selveson with Mike Panz and ended up with a couple of Coho, a very wet ride home, followed by a dip in the ocean, hot tub and a photo…

They loved every minute and above is Victor showing off their catch of the day. The unlikely hero of the afternoon was Michael who not wanting to hold his buddies back as he’s not that hard core of a fisherman stayed back at the lodge and ended up going out with me for a toodle around Brock Island. Guess what…the only Chinook of the afternoon was his and I think he’s hooked…

Being a media guru back in Sweden he couldn’t resist the photographic opportunity…

Notice the patch behind his ear, if you’re coming and think you might be susceptible to sea sickness put one of these on before you arrive they are called Transaderm patches. Michael who said he is notorious for motion sickness was out with me for 3 hours in big seas happy as a clam…"my wife would not believe it" (imagine that said in a Swedish accent). But that was it 3 Chinook, 4 Coho and a lot of sun and wind. We’ve got a plan for tomorrow so stay tuned. I’ll end tonight with some feedback from a regular viewer…thanks for writing George, you should have sent me a picture from your years at NIL!. if anyone has pictures and a brief description of how they are associated with WCFC I’d love to see them, good night from the OP.

Hi Ken:
I sent an email just yesterday to Randy Lee to comment on the quality of your report and here today you have an email address I can respond to. We have been fishing for the past number of years out of the North Island Lodge and we love it, although I have a had friends fish at the Outpost and enjoyed their stay just as much. It is really interesting to read your report not only with the aspect of fishing in mind, but the weather, and the other interesting tid-bits, such as the shark appys. The photos are a huge +++ as well.
Please keep up the good work as often as you can, I am sure I am not the only person who enjoys it.
Best regards:
George Gray
