The Outpost Report: July 17, 2010

July 17, 2010

OUTPOST UPDATE: MOST FISH OF THE YEAR! Today was the most productive day of the 2010 season with almost 60 Chinook caught and released amongst the 6 boats. Most guests have all the fish they want and are going fun fishing tomorrow. The weather is decent and fishing is fabulous! Let’s start with Jim, Vincent and “Boat 4”…

Now that’s a full array of species and they were back on the dock before 4 pm with many more released. A couple of perfect 20-30 lb halibut for processing and some really happy anglers. Mike Panz had 3 fans from last year on the water all day and came back with a boat load…

The group of Mike, Ray, Alison and Alex released another 15 Chinooks on top of what they brought home…amazing! Alison brought in the biggest halibut at 90 pounds after releasing a 170 pounder not bad for an expectant mom. How did she manage?...

With all simles! Ray caught a handful of salmon on his 9 weight fly rod…

He was JAZZED! And here’s a shot of another monster 150 pound fish they released…

They all got their pins including a Tyee for Ray who released a 30lb spring (also caught on his fly rod). The “Old Guys” (aside from Logan) of the group had fun on their own…

Although Paul was so exhausted he had to sit down for the picture. The father and son duo of Brian and Nick were into a bunch of fish and released 3 tyees, not bad guys…

JP and Greg brought home the fish of the day…

36 pounds! While Mark-“McLovin” discovered another oddity while cleaning his salmon today…

Inside were 4 perfectly cut herring heads…obviously from 4 cut-plugs. The funny part is they are clearly cut by the same guide which means…this fish must have followed his boat long enough for the guide to cut and and possibly rig 4 rods…and he didn’t get the fish.

Also on the dock was this ling displaying his fangs…

Vicious! While up at the lodge Kaili was setting the table for dinner…

And I was watching my new humming bird feeder waiting for its first customer….

In the background the boats headed out for more fun…maybe I’ll have to sneak out with them tomorrow…

Stay tuned
