The Outpost Report: July 15, 2010

July 15, 2010

OUTPOST UPDATE: After yesterdays epic catches today seemed a little slower with a couple of bright spots starting with the father and son duo of John and Jason…

Jason caught the biggest Chinook of the day at 25lbs and John got a 12 pound fish to match. With a lot of limits yesterday there were 4 coho and 4 Chinook retained with an ecological interest popping out of one of the Chinooks…

Another squid, the second we’ve seen and on a lark I offered up 5 bucks to the guide with the courage to eat the raw calamari…

Guide Mark “McLovin” Reid bit at the opportunity…in doing so discovered that squid have an internal cartilage…

We pulled it out of the main body cavity to discover that it was amazingly leaf like but transparent and felt like plastic. The vein running up the center gave it some structural integrity…it was actually quite beautiful. Thanks to Whitney for the black back drop on which to shoot the delicate thingy-me-bob.

The Panzers went hali fishing today and came back with a nice haul, with Grandfather Eric (82 years young) doing most of the hauling to the scale…with a little help from Pork Chop (dockhand Brent)…

They had one fish over 100 lbs that couldn’t be released due to an imbedded treble hook, all went to seapak to be enjoyed over the next year with friends and family…

A great trip for Jeff, JP, Mike, Mark, Steve and Eric! Jeff and Steve topped it off with a double dip; the ocean and the hot tub…

Wow that’s chilly!

Up at the lodge it was 5 star service as usual as Kaili helped Clay remember which glass was his and who he was when he looked in the mirror…

Don’t worry Clay it happens to all of us…eventually. Now that’s going the extra mile.

Only at the OP.
