Tuesday fishing report: THE BEST MORNING OF THE SEASON! for the first time this summer the sea was as flat as it gets, the sun was out and the fishing was what Matt Brown characterized as "getting there"…refering to the glory years of the past. In total the 6 boats had 21 Coho, over 32 Chinook caught or released, 6 Halis caught or released and a variety of other species. It was the best Morning and best day of the year with some boats hooking into 10+ Chinooks in the morning shift. Are there more fish coming in? is it just that we can fish better in calmer seas? who knows…there are still 17 commercial boats working off shore near Tien and I’d be curious to know how they are doing. Highlights begin with Boomer who after an hour struggle brought up a monster Halibut
Estimated at 200 lbs it was released after this photo, well done Boomer!
That’s good training for when you enlist in naval academy boot camp next year. The salmon hot spot of the day (and season) was Brock Island right in front of the lodge, here is Mike doing a pass on the west side
and here he is with one of the many Chinook taken from the "gap"
look at that water… if only every day was like this, nice fish Mike. Watch out its a fish on for Picasso’s boat
that’s a nice fish Reg, well played
His boat mate Denny had his chances and capitalized on them
Clay and Jim decided to do some Halibut fishing with Mike…you know what that means…
You catch them you lift them boys, the fish were almost identical at 70 & 71 lbs. Jim, who is really getting the hang of this for a prairie boy gets another nice Chinook or two on his second day ever of salmon fishing
Pierre had Boomer and Elan out for the day, with the Frenchman on board there always seems to be some kissing going on
and keep your hands up as they brought home a full compliment of Chinook
The champion of the day was Ralph with a 31 lb Chinook, the biggest of the day…
or was it? Yours truly (Capt’n ken) had 60 minutes to drop the lines in the water and this fish was result, caught and released…can you guess where this was, who I was with and estimate the size? email firstname.lastname@example.org We measured it out and I’ll post the story and correct answers tomorrow.
At the end of the day Ty and his dad Eric set another Outpost first this season…they went for a swim…
A GREAT DAY ON and IN THE WATER at the Outpost and this group looks like they’ll be in for another tomorrow…good night and dream of the take.
