The Outpost Report: August 7, 2010

August 7, 2010

OUTPOST UPDATE: Today’s theme is “You never know”.

“You never know”…what you’re going to learn at the OP;
For Steve it was the new hand sign for the West Coast...

Resident Haida gangster JP providing the proper finger formation for the “W-C”. Steve got a full limit of Salmon today and was in early to relax and enjoy the afternoon.

“You never know”… what you’re going to see at the OP…

Not sure we want to try this new configuration for changeover but what a sight…

Not sure where they’re going but I do know that it’s costing somebody a lot of money!

“You never know”… if it’s going to be your day. Today belonged to Bob and Curtis who had a fabulous time with Boat 4 and got a gorgeous selection of everything…

Like an ink blot test what do you see in this fish configuration?
I see a soaring “lingcod-headed-eagle”.

“You never know”…when you’ll get to experience something new, for Bill it was his first time fishing for salmon and it took him a couple of days before he brought home his first ever Chinook...

Watch out Bill this can be a very addictive pastime.

“You never know”…if this will be the year you’ll catch a Tyee. For Mike it was a hefty 35 pounder and the biggest of the trip...

Along with partner Jim, they had an excellent day out with Mark…

“You never know”…how long it’s going to take you to clean all those fish...

Dr.Boat 4 for puts on the rubber gloves and gets ready for surgery.

Some good weather and excellent fishing today, lots of fish to the dock and lots released. Weather is looking good for tomorrow so it’s a great weekend to be here. Steve had a picture of the new WCFC land in Panama where our newest resort is going to be built…

The Airstrip is a remnant from the military, otherwise the area is a pristine, wild jungle. The crescent beach on the top right will be the location of the marina. The coast directly opposite on the left will be the location of the lodge. “You never know “…what we’re going to be catching down there…but I can’t wait to try.

“You never know” what the next decade holds for us…so Bob celebrates his 60th at the OP with a surprise salmon shaped lemon cake, blueberry ice cream and a hug from his daughter Kaili..

He assures me that 60 is the new 40!

Maybe here on fantasy island those wishes can come true...
