The Outpost Report: August 4, 2008

August 4, 2008

Patience is a virtue and the Travis Exclusive group of guests were rewarded for their patience as the bite came on the last day of the trip. For Steve Gallivan the timing could not have been better. Steve, coached by guide Kevin (Kermode) Sturgess, caught on the last day a derby winning 32 lb Chinook in 92 feet of water south of Hippa on a 6” spoon.

Jeff Laplante, coached by guide Steve (The Log) Cote, was also awarded a Tyee pin for his 31 lb Chinook caught at 3 Rocks in 80 feet of water on a coyote spoon.
Brian Connolly joined the 2008 Tyee Club when he hooked his 31 lb Chinook in 62 feet of water on a 6” spoon at Gillan Point. The largest Hali of the trip was a 146 lb giant caught by Mitch Scarborough in 220 feet of water at Flamingo Rock. Humpback and Killer Whales have been spotted from Hippa to Tian. The sea lions have been far and few between and the colony that was always hanging out at Tian has completely vanished!
