The Outpost~~ Let the 2013 Season Begin!

Well after cracking the whip over The Outpost crew for the past 10 days we are finally set up and ready to rock and roll!!

First things first, lets get what we are all wondering about out on the table….. The FISHING!

The crew managed to get out today and we were into the them, a common phrase over the radio today was “OOO Yeah, We are into them hot and heavy over here!!” Gwen, a new member of The Outpost family, netted this nice 29lber, after a quick photo it was released. Who knows maybe some lucky angler tomorrow will hook into this beauty. Loads of fish were caught today, boats were only out for a 3-4hrs, we had multiple double headers and loads of fish to the boats. The fish are here!!!

Lots of work has been done in the past 10 days, from the barge unloading, to prepping boats and preparing amazing looking food.

Here is our new Head Chef, Popeye… I mean, Big Pipes Paul unloading the few hundred water bottles.

Carl, one of our new guides this year lugging something down the ramp of the barge. I think when we hired him we somehow may have forgotten to tell him about barge day….. a few hundred times up and down the dock had him wondering “Is this guiding gig going to be like this all summer long???”

Even through all the hard work, he had a big smile on his face to bring in his birthday and had a well deserved birthday cake. This divine treat will be featured as one of our dessert, Passionfruit Soufflé with a Pistachio Gelato Quenelle. I am not much of a dessert eater but I could have eaten a mountain of this!!

Paul and Steph have been preparing some amazing looking food, the smells coming from the kitchen are mouth watering. The worst part is that they didnt cook off any samples for quality control, I guess you will have to let me know how the taste when you are here!! The first photo is a roasted vegetable empanada which will be served as a canape and the one directly above is a potato leek tortellini, both all hand made from scratch.

We are ready and waiting for the first group to arrive tomorrow, the fish are hungary and the weather is looking great!! Let the 2013 Outpost season begin!!!

Oooo yeah, I almost forgot, the 2013 staff KRUD season has begun, I dont know if anyone is really keeping score….. but if my memory serves me correct, I think I have won the most games so far with three victories….. Lord of the Ling, you had better shape up if you want to dawn the green jacket again! We have some sharks on the table this year!!! That goes for all guests, bring your A game!!!!!
