The Outpost~~ Going for a Dip!

The fishing slowed down a bit today but the weather is still holding, tomorrows forecast is “light”!!!! I think it is the first time I have ever seen that on a weather report for the north west coast of Haida Gwaii!!! The wave of fish may have moved on or the commercial fleet is taking more than their fair share. I am leaning towards the latter of the two options. Each commercial license is allowed 390 Chinook salmon, so once they have reached their limit they will be done. We are hoping they will be gone by next week! I will be sure to keep you posted!

With that being said we are still getting 15-25 salmon per day per boat and the halibut fishery is doing well!

Here are Tim and Steve with a nice brace of fish…. “Brace” I think is for birds… I guess this would be a “stringer of fish”. Either way this is a nice days haul and some perfect take home Butts!

Mike and Jon will have some nice fish to take home to their family and friends.

But the big fish of the day goes to Chris, this 34lb Tyee was caught not a stones throw from the lodge and is still swimming! Nice work Chris and Myles on this great release!

Steve, Greg, Brad and Bill decided to go for a dip… The water is a balmy 53 degrees, it almost qualifies as a Polar Bear swim!

CANNON BALL, leap, backflip, and a dive. These old wily vets are truly young whippersnappers at heart!!

Well tonight we had another KRUD match! I have somehow managed to keep forgetting about posting the wins and losses……. Or maybe it is just because I haven’t won yet…. How about a quick recap, Sammy won the first trip, Jordo the second, Ben the third, and the winner tonight is….

Emo Jordo!!! Nice second “W” Jordo, I will be hot on your heels soon! We have had multiple guests in the top three but nobody other than an Outpostian has taken the win……yet.
