An awesome 31 pounder!!

Pappa D and Nick found this nice spring in the bay…

The bay is starting to stack up with Coho, it is hard to sift through all of them and find a nice Chinook like this one!

John and Louise had 5 double headers by 10:30am today.

This is a nice healthy fish below.

Check out the missing adipose fin(circled in red), this means it is a hatchery raised Chinook. As a “fry”(a stage in salmons lifecycle) someone at the hatchery cuts off its adipose fin and implants a small chip in the nose of a few of the fish. Whenever we see this missing fin, we will send the nose of the fish into Department of Fisheries where they will scan the chip. The chip tells us what river system it was released into and when it was released. Last year at The Outpost, 16% of the fish caught were hatchery fish and most were from Oregon or Washington. Quite an amazing stat!!

John caught this fish with Ol’ Yeller, a nice mid 20’s fish! It too is a hatchery fish.

The Hali fishing has slowed a bit, I think this is due to our small tidal exchanges we have been having as of late. We are still catching some great fish…

Jason caught this 58 pounder. This fish measured 120cms long, but it had some serious girth!

This is a pretty cool shot of a nice little chicken!

Nick landed this great fish with Pappa D today.

All in all we had a very productive and fishy day here at The OP. Tomorrow is changeover and I am hoping for clear skies!

Good night and dream of the big one!
