The Clubhouse Report: May 25, 2011

Hello Hello, from Langara Island and the Clubhouse.

Start-up is well underway and fish are being caught locally in some numbers and size. Chinook in the teens seem to be here is some numbers and a couple tyee hit the local docks here at Langara. The weather is awesome, flat seas and no rain since Saturday, what a great way to get started.

Kui is leading the charge down at the docks, his gang rebuilding and decking as the winter was a rough one in here. Lots of progress has happened, myself busy underwater surveying, zincing and shackling. North Island pulled in yesterday, Kauri was up for dinner tonight and said it was a flawless trip up the coast, flat seas and fantastic weather. Todd and his guys will have the lodge buttoned down tomorrow. DJ is happy tonight, he has the internet and his online checkers, so everyone is happy over at the camp.

Fishing appears to be looking very good for the coming months. The west coast trollers on Vancouver Island have had banner fishing, grabbing 40,000 springs in two short openings, top boats had 200 fish a day, lots of boats averaged 100 fish. Big money too, happy fisherman. The herring spawn was good as well, I surveyed over 60 miles of spawn down south and was told 50 miles of spawn took place on the central, so plenty of food for those chinooks as well. Optimistic and looking good here this season.

Our boats are arriving daily, and some nice surprises. The Predators have some new seating and Chris and Bud are going to be excited guiding these boats with the changes. More room and great fish storage in proper wells. A new zodiac is set to arrive and the boys in Masset are taking care of a lot of maintenance issues. The fleet is improving, great news.

Stay tuned for the local reports...it is Chinook time now. Dust off the islanders, thaw some herring, fire up the boats and pick a local point, fishing five minutes from the dock! We are ready for all of you...the fish will be here, check back soon,
