Thanks for checking in to the Clubhouse Fishing Report, your source for fishing updates here at Langara! What a great trip we have just concluded, fish everywhere and ten tyees to report!
Top fish of the trip was a released 36 lb tyee, angled by Oren Barfoot. David Akins released a 34.5 to win a fun fishing derby hosted by Randy Lee. Todd guided this fish on the west side. Bob Wills grabbed a couple tyees, a 32 he released and a 30 retained. Bob must have landed 25 chinook today with Kory. Fred Bohn had a 31 retained tyee, Courtney Betts had a 31 with Ryan guiding, jack Hansen and Lauren Lee both released 30 lbers, and the Onken’s had good fishing, both landing 30 lb tyees.
Most guests had huge fishing, landing lots of 20 to 25 lb springs in most locations. Some guides had 20 to 30 Chinook encounters a day, the beauty of this fishing is all bites are chinook. We are finding the fish shallow, find the needlefish and you are into fish. Whales are ever present and an easy way to find bait and yes, fish!
The weather has mellowed, winds are decreasing, and everything points to a huge week ahead. Yes June is rocking, fish are biting, and many of our current guests are so happy with this fishing they want to return same time same place next year.
Sure the Canucks bombed out in Boston, but the spring fishing eased the pain for some. Now the Canuck fans know what everyday for a Leaf fan feels like. A new group is in tomorrow, the fishing is on fire, I am off to bed to recharge for a big day tomorrow.
