A Hippa was located today, here at Langara, caught and released this am by Bryce Mclaren, fishing with his dad Don. Wow, a 63 lber, 51 inches long, that is a monster. The father son team, fishing with a brother as well, grabbed the monster a half mile out from Lacy, Buds secret tyee spot! They were fishing 72 feet off the rigger and added a standard 20 min. fight. Bryce thought they had a lion on, but no, a big black head came to the net for a quick pic and a release, well done guys!

Hearing that news I roared over from the east side. I had just dropped my lines, but how do you fish a spot knowing a few miles away someone had a monster? I wound up stinkin the joint up, chasing fish already caught. On arrival the news was a coho show, yes coho stacked like cordwood, 0 th 150 feet. Where are the springs? Most boats had no chinook over 20 lbs, infact I had one 14 pounder, what the sam heck? Coho after silver, guys running all over, no springs!

The tide this afternoon was screaming. I fished Bruin for an hour, really blew it, so headed to Koreys spot, Coho Point. What a surprise, tons of coho. The tide had my cables pinned way out from my boat, on angles that were not fishy. Wait...did Korey have one on? Spinning his skiff around, he chased her down, oh boy, a 34 lb halibut. He had a couple coho too, and some tiny jacks, was Korey stinking too? Conman's eyes were monstrous and confused, he looked like a hungry rock dog, where are the kings? Yes , Conman was blowing the shift too.

Bud grabbed a 23 and thought he was a hero, out at Lacy, so I raced out there to join him, only to have him reel up and leave, he was chasing Shawn's bite at the patch, where Shawn had a 19 lb jack, what the sam heck? Chris raced to the REEF chasing self guide Jim's call, fish! Chris shows but no Jim, so now what? Does Jim R. know where he is fishing? I guess he did, Jim had three okay fish, springs! Chris hung in there for a secretive 29, no details tonight, Chris kept it on the down low.

Bud failed at the patch, Todd had a single fish, a spring, but gee where are they, was it the huge tide? Lets hope so, millions of coho, but a day off for the Chinook, so BRYCE was king on this day. Weather is a northwest pattern, dry and a bit foggy. The east side is calm, out west a roll depending on the tide. We are all looking for kings now, possibly tomorrow they will return. I hope so, pressure is on in my boat, time to amp it up and produce. I am off to bed to dream off very large Chinook salmon visiting my net bag tomorrow.

Goodnight from the Clubhouse,

Mike Tonnesen, Head Guide, The Clubhouse
