The Clubhouse Afternoon Report: June 22, 2012

June 22, 2012 | 718 Views

Just a quick update, calm seas, warm temps and fishing continues good. Wanted to let you know seven tyees were caught yesterday, two in the 40,s, largest a 46 released in Predator 2 by the Reinhart group. Boat 17 released a 45 as well, Boat 6, good old Kory got off the snide and grabbed a 39 for the SMS group. Hands, or boat 18 had a 35 with the Tremblays, Boat 11 had a tyee with the Jungaro group. This fish was a hot one, found my rigger cable, but we danced around it and Todd managed to bag it.

Fishing was slower on the ebb this am, but conditions are great. Still bait around in jiggable quantities, have a nice cooler brining as we speak for this afternoon.

Check in tonight for the full report, news by 11 here on Clubhouse channel 33 nightly….off to the grounds for me this pm, sure we will have an interesting report later!

Mike, try this for freshies. The night before, half fill your herring chest with ice and keep the lid open and into the freezer,,,30 below is perfect if you have it. The next morning a couple of scoops of ocean water into the super cold ice. When jigging, snap the freshies off the jig and on to the boat deck to die. Don’t touch them on the jig. Yeah, it makes a mess but that’s what washdowns are for. Then into the super cold ocean water ice mixture,,,NO SALT. These things will be super great all day as cut plugs or whole with the right smell,, tons of attached scales , the right color and even into the next morning without turning the remainer into cut plugs.. Adding anything to a premium freshie is just not helping. Try it, I think you’ll like it and won’t use salt again.
