North Island Lodge Update June 13 ~ “Lordy, Lordy that has got to be forty!”
June 16, 2014 | 1989 Views
The North Island team and sunny skies welcomed long time guest Paul Bognar who couldn’t wait to introduce a few newcomers of the Fresh Start group to the Haida Gwaii experience.
…and there was a lot of this. Clark displays perfect form as his Chinook tears off on its first run.
Good numbers of Chinook, mostly 15-25lbers and the odd Coho now showing. Here’s DJ’s new sonar in action this week. Showing large schools of herring and Chinook tearing through the masses with wide mouths. Warning: If you see this on your screen you should probably be watching the rods!
….the first push of some larger fish arrive.
Meanwhile over at Gunia…
Lordy, Lordy that has got to be forty! Guide Jacob “Ginger snap” Brunelle finds a 40+ at Guinia Pt. for his guest Peter DeGroot. This beauty was also voluntarily released.
Other highlights from this great trip included Hank Hamstra, who shared some great stories of his years in the marine industry, catching himself a 31 lber. Guide Tanner gets a birthday Tyee for John Paul First in Banning’s hole, and self- guided guest Nicolas First bags a 30 lber with his brothers assistance.
New to our guide team is Patrick, who has had a huge smile on his face since his arrival at Langara . A native of Vancouver Island, Patrick has a wealth of knowledge growing up fishing the waters of the west coast. He has gone through rigorous training with our senior guides over the last 2 weeks: out on the water, at the cleaning table, and of course learning the North Island guide humor. Patrick is a recent graduate of West Coast Adventure College, and when not applying copious amounts of sunscreen, he enjoys all the outdoor activities the B.C. coast has to offer including, kayaking and surfing. A great addition to the team he looks forward to sharing his experience with you all.
All systems go and awaiting your arrival.
