Outpost Update ~ June 19th "Inconceivable"

June 20, 2012

"I don't think that word means what you think it means"...

in·con·ceiv·a·ble Adjective:

Not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally; unbelievableWe keep saying it but I'm not sure the world fully understands the Outpost. Today was an Outpost day...out·post·day Adjective:Not capable of being imagined or grasped mentally; unbelievable! And so it begins, the winds calmed the seas settled and our 7 little boats went out in search of good fishing and adventure.14 guests on the water and 28 chinook retained, limits for all and roughly 50+ chinook released, including a couple of HOGS...but I'll get to that later. Fishing was spectacular today. Ben was first back on an all day outing with Charlie and Paul...

Limits and lots of action all day.Rick, Andy and Perry show off a perfect day on the water...

"Ol' yeller", Norm and Woody had a fantastic day with stories to relay...

Marky-Mark and Ken (who fully recovered from day one motion sickness) had a field day out there...

66 lb hali and 27 lb chinook...both good take home sizes. The fishing was incredible with boats claiming 30+ chinook to the boat and halibut within seconds. It DOES NOT always happen out here but when it does it's the best fishing in the world.BUT THATS NOT THE STORY OF THE DAY!First up Ken and Mark caught & released this beautiful Chinook taped at 43 x 29.5, around 46-7 pounds...

Awesome...but if that wasn't enough whats better than catching a fish with your dad for father's day?...

Watching him hook into something really big, a full 4 minutes from the lodge...

(Those of you that have been here know where this is)Watching him play the fish for 30-40 minutes and then putting it in the bag...

Its big but how big?Lets measure it out quickly...

The hooks popped out he's bleeding a little bit from the lip...41 by .... 32...there's only two of us in the boat so I'll hold it up...

52.5 POUNDS!Happy fathers day pop! Lets give him a chance to recover...

...and set him free. We've been open for 5 days and have 1 fish in the 50's, 3 in the 40's and 2 in the 30's...with 7 boats on the water...in·con·ceiv·a·ble Adjective: just unbelievable!More inconceivable tonight is that after an "incredibly" competitive game of KRUD...

we have a new KRUD champion...

For the first time in 2 years crowd favorite Andrew Matheson narrowly beats out kennyb in the final round to win the "green jacket", handed over by reining champion Chef Jordan.Another day for the record book.Ken BeattyThe Outpost
