Outpost Update ~ June 16th "Back in Business"

June 17, 2012

Can we keep this up? We've only been open for two days and we've had 1 fish over 45 pounds each day...I wonder if we'll be three for three tomorrow?

Bran Newcomb was the lucky angler today catching and releasing this beautiful 46 pound tyee...

Guide Gordie (new to the OP) commented that the hooks came out as soon as it hit the net and was measured, revived & released within minutes. Way to go fellas!

With strong winds from the SE and rain off and on all day we were mostly confined to the bay in front of the lodge, a few boats made attempts to head offshore but all turned back shortly there after. A number of fish were caught but you had to work between bites with the morning providing more fish than the afternoon.

But it feels like a lodge again here at the OP, with anglers fishing in the morning, boats coming in for lunch...

...everyone bundled up.

The usual action around the weigh scale and fish cleaning table...

A few quick power naps before the afternoon shift...

...in this case Brad (who just landed the 46) dreams of his next fish...like the 60+ in the frame above.

The afternoon had its highlights like Dean's first ever salmon...

A perfect take home fish... as a non fisherman Dean later told me that he was amazed an thrilled by the power of the runs and the excitment of the battle... "you know when you have a salmon on"... right you are Dean!

The lodge was alive at meet and greet tonight with both staff and guests sharing stories and getting to know each other...

Then in OP tradition, a massive game of KRUD ensued and the season's first Victor...

...Chef Jordan wastes no time feeling at home in the "Green Jacket".

Its business as usual here at the OP...its good to be back.
