Outpost Update ~ June 12 "Hold your Horses"

June 13, 2012

Three days and counting before blast off at the OP...there's been a few comments from the peanut gallery about my lack of posts...not to worry once we're up and running we'll be posting hot and heavy...its nice to know we've been missed and it must be nice to know that your comments create action on my end.

Here's a quick peek of the "goings-on" today in Port Louis...

Boats are in, knives are sharp, trays are stacked, one more quick powerwash and we'll be ready to go.

In the boats this year we've got some new faces, lets start with Gordie and Sam...

Both are vetran guides, have chosen to be here and are pumped for a great season.

Next up is our head guide Marky-Mark returning for his third year at the OP pictured here with newcomer Peter Dick...

"Big fish-many names" Ben is a little camera shy but has returned for his third season at the OP and ready to offer his guests the "Ben-efits" of his 7 years on the water...

Chris "Rock fish" Dale already has a new favorite spoon for his first year at the OP...

On the dock Andrew "Dewy" Matheson returns with newcomer Catherine "no name yet" Eagles...

Hannah "Cookie Duck" Reid is back and busy getting your rooms ready...

While Justine is profiled against the afternoon sun...the inside in ready to go...

Chef Jordan returns with a couple of seasons of Game of Thones on his computer...I've banned public showings. He's been busy making all the essentials from scratch...

...in this case fresh Jam.

Our new Sous Chef Natasha was busy making apple pie filling from...

...real apples of course!

On the part time roster this summer will be some special guest appearances of past Outpost favorites (as seen in this "staged" 2011 end of season shot)...

Dan "Shimano Dano" Ackerman is working as a teacher Calgary, Mike "The Panzer" Panz is working for the family engineering firm in Van, Adam "The Cougar Slayer" Canning is now working in the finance biz in Vancouver and Rebecca "Hoops" Hooper works with Thomas Hass (famous chocolatier) in Vancouver...we'll be happy to see all of them again this summer.

Not Pictured but also returning this summer for brief stints are...

Kaili "Buzzy-Buzz" Clay who works as a designer at Arcteyrx in Vancouver and "Stormin'" Norman Hann...

Who among many things works as a Stand Up Paddle board instructor and guide.

So an exciting line up for an exciting season.

Now for a little humour from 40 miles north. I was fortunate to be passing through Langara to catch the tail end of NIL's Todd McIntyre's Salmonar series and attended the "gear night" to see if I could pick up a few tricks of the trade from Todd "the Rod" himself...

...all I discovered is that they've been cheating at NIL all these years. Bait scents, WD40 and smelly gelly? Really Todd!

Even long time guest and huge NIL fan Richard Masef had to admit that this "Shmutz" helped him catch that 60 pounder 3 years ago...

I've already put my order in for a case of WD40.

Fishing you ask?

Back in Port Louis the boys headed out as a group for the first time this afternoon...

and...

THEY'RE HERE!

Soon you will be as well...if you booked early enough
