Outpost Update July 30 ~ "One of the most consistent summers in recent memory!"

July 30, 2014

This summer has been one of good times, and lots of em! July just keeps on giving in what happens to be one of the most consistent summers in recent memory. Sure we are exposed to the shear force of the open ocean and sometimes get blown around quite a bit, but chances are that on a 4 or 5 day period there will be at least one if not many memorable sessions. When everything lines up the way it should, it is a thing of beauty. Hungry spring Salmon competing for your bait makes it nearly impossible to get a break as long as your line is in the water! Here are a few highlights from the last few trips.

Bente Rybinski and her 2 sons, Luke and Henrik, had a blast with Myles

Henrik has that Sage rod loaded!

* Henrik has that Sage rod loaded! That trip also brought my good friends Dave and Doug Shigaki for their first trip at The Outpost. Doug won the SNC derby at The Clubhouse back in June and decided to see what we were all about. Great to see you guys! Now the group that came next decided to bring the pain! To the fish, that is! From July 21st to the 25th our anglers caught 5 tyees and 3 Halibut over a 100 lbs to provide us with our biggest fish haul yet..42 boxes between 14 guests!!Linda Grant found a 33 lbs on an all day expedition with Ben Russell. Clay Dowling and Paul Drost also struck gold with a 31 each. Reuben Banhman released a 122 Halibut with Dewey "Krud Shark" Matheson, but our angler of the trip grand prize goes to young Amy Follwell. Amy single-handedly managed to catch 2 tyees and the lodge record Halibut at close to 270lbs!! Now don't be fooled by her modest stature and great smile! Amy knew exactly what she was doing, she came to The Outpost with one thing in mind...Trophy hunt and basically kill it in every department! Let's have a look.
