Outpost Update ~ July 19 "Sin City"

July 20, 2011

The scene is set, the money is on the table, there were some late trades and last minute sides bets...things were heating up here in...

We'd even arranged for a Dolphin show for this afternoon's entertainment...

I couldn't quite catch the leap on camera but there were a few aerials before the dolphin moved over to the dock hoping Ray would throw her a herring...

and we paid her to hang around for a while and do figure 8s in the bay...

she is small and when surfacing you never see the dorsal fin which I'm presuming is well back on her body...

dark grey with some white on her sides, can jump 10+ feet in the air...any guesses as to what she is?

Back to the fishing...it was the "DEAN of mean"...

who dominated the dojo after being traded as an ageing player (at a discount of 20 lbs in the overall team weight category) who vendictively struck hard for his new team showing the old dog still had a few tricks up his sleve starting with this 39 lb Tyee...

...caught with "Big Fish Ben" who also managed to guide Dean into a released 78 inch halibut (roughly 255 lbs). So the Dean of mean dominated the day with the largest Salmon and Halibut so far. The team president who traded Dean off last night was a little dejected by the days results...

"I'm in it for the long haul"...Paul sticks to his decision...however rumors of mutiny and a change of team management are rampant.

Rick, Captain of the other team was all smiles bringing home a tyee shot here with guide JP...

Alison returned to her usual form with a Tyee of her own...

...and a 165 lb released halibut...

Its so great seeing these big breeding females set loose.

Fishing for both salmon and halibut continue to be stellar with lots fo fish caught and a lot of releases. Every boat that hit the dock created a wave of interest to see whats in the box...

Some of the other notables of interest today were...

Panz colour co-ordinating his line and plugs..."They match"!

Every salmon ray retained today was caught on his fly rod...

Alex and Alison released a few lingcod that were big enough to swallow chinook heads whole...

Neil puckered up on his 56 lb hali...

My boy blue came up short again...

He's only got one Chinook slot left on his license and needs a 40+ to take the lead for biggest fish...its not looking good for my side bet with Paul.

Ray was on fire and dressed ready for action for the nights main event...

KRUD...on meet and greet night.

Marky mark takes over the MC role but it was...

Kennyb who took the "green jacket" and knocked out surprise second place finisher "Dewy" (Dockhand Andrew) to cap off a fun night here in Sin City.
