Outpost Update ~ July 18th "Cold and Clear"

July 19, 2012

A bizarre day on the fishing front and I don't mean bizarre catches...

...like Alex continuing his dominance over the "alternate" category.

The water was crystal clear out there according and to Guide Gordie you could see your flashers 60 feet down and the water temperature dropped 9 degrees from the day before...the combination seems to have shut the fishing down...temporarily we hope.

The Ling King didn't know what to make of the situation and was ready to bring out the big guns...

...and I don't mean the kilt.

He finally hit a Chinook on his fly rod...

Rod and Ben watch "over" Ray as he battles away...

...and a very happy result with Rod and Ray.

The comic-ized version of the event courtesy of the Ling King...

While a couple of boats away Brian and Joe were dominating the Dojo out there...

Sloppy poses between regurgitations with a nice 26lber.

Brian firmly sets himself as the lead poundage angler with a Tyee...

...as you can see the water and conditions were perfect...other than the fishing which was slow for both salmon and halibut.

Tony takes a moment to appreciate the wilds of Haida Gwaii...

ohh...another fish on for Gordie, Sloppy and Brian...

...they were the boat of the day...and they knew it...

back at the dock another comic moment provided by Ray...

Other antics included Ol Yeller's boots, which by faulty design have a built in cinch mechanism inside making them impossible to take off...

...Marky-mark wrastles with the problem...Ol Yeller looking gleefull.

Meanwhile up at the lodge Kennyb goes through the days photos with Alex and Sloppy Joe...

Never a dull day despite the difficult fishing. Hoping for a thriller on Thursday but with wind and rain in the forecast...we'll have to wait and see.
