Outpost Update ~ Aug 3rd "biggest of the season"

August 4, 2011

Wednesday morning 7:16 am heading around "kicking horse" and all indications point to another amazing day at the Outpost...

The sun was up, the air was warm, the seas were calm...

Mike (fellow Queen's alum (Eng 91)) enjoys the wind in his hair and the sun on his face on the drive south.

It doesn't get better than leaving all your worries behind, the only thoughts focused on the moment and the day.

The landscape around Hippa Island reminding us we're in a prehistoric, "jurassic park" landscape; wild, free and at the edge of the earth.

The fishing is world class, Adam's glasses are retro, Charlie was getting tired, you have to wait 5-10 minutes between Chinook hits and put on sunscreen every hour...life is tough out here!

The salmon fishing continues to be excellent, we gave out 5 tyee pins tonight, the biggest was a 36er caught by Mike...

guide Kennyb representing with the Panama visor...Mikey in Punta Coco I'm closing in on your 58 from last year...still a few weeks to go.

Back at the dock guide Adam and Cam strike a pose with the best hali of the day...

Hali fishing remains challenging and those who sit on their anchor long enough usually end up catching something decent.

In glorious sunshine Marky mark preps a salmon for seapak while resident gangster JP digs out some "gold" (otoliths) from a yelloweye...

Mark and Cam share a smile and antics while watching the "weigh ins"...

...and the BIGGEST OF THE SEASON...yellow eye weighed in at 20 pounds today...

We're thinking of getting pins for these next year.

Fishing and weather were fantastic today and I've picked the best week of the year to be in the boat.
