Outpost Update ~ Aug 11 "BC TUNA!"

August 12, 2011

Its an Outpost first! Inspired by OP guide Mike Panz and the guests (Bob and Kathryn) who we're willing to follow his lead...there ensued an odyssey of extraordinary proportions, creativity and in the end success...

THE QUEST FOR BC ALBACORE TUNA

Photos by JP Biron, David Beatty, Bob & Kathryn Stan and Justine Dart

Are you ready for this...

Mike and Bob high five going out on a limb.

Thus began an odyssey 16 miles offshore...

Kathryn standing by on the rods...rigged for tuna and seeming like a long shot.

She's hooked up!

THE FIRST TUNA IN OP HISTORY (as far as we know)...

Elation!

Once Mike gets things figured out...WATCH OUT...

...one fish became 12 fish which became...

...serious Tuna action!

Both boats had packed a ton of ice and immediately bled and cleaned the fish, packing the bodies on ice and chilling them down.

JP and Andrew worked the photo boat...and got a few of their own along the way...

Here are some great action shots from JP...

They weren't the only ones out there...

Albatross

Dolphins

Leaps...

LOTS OF TUNA...

Mike with a nice 20 lber

Andrew, stunned...

What awesome looking fish...

Back on the dock the hero's return with a bounty...

Dewy and JP

Bob, Mike & Kathryn...

The Chefs jumped right in testing the product for a staff Tuna feast...

It was fresh, tender and fantastic!

Hats off to the man that made it happen, Mike this day and this landmark belongs to you. Congratulations...

As if our season wasn't epic enough, it just keeps getting better and re-inventing itself in all new ways.

Three trips to go and I can't even guess whats going to happen next...out here on the west side.
