Outpost: Never a boring day

June 6, 2011

Outpost Update: Lots of activity around the lodge today, lets start with a look in the kitchen...

A slightly exasperated Chef Jordan takes a deep breath between stocks, chopping, unpacking, slicing, cooking, scrubbing and sharing some thoughts with Rebecca. Its been non-stop for them and so far we love everything they've produced. I'm certain you will as well. Here's a couple of other shots...

...that box wasn't kidding (look again at the above picture if you don't understand).

There's bones, veggies, herbs and all sorts of stuff going on in there...the lodge smells great!

Hold on it looks like we have some visitors...

We had a helicopter and the Coast Guard around the lodge this morning as a successful search and rescue mission was underway followed by a medi-vac from our heli pad. The unfortunate person had been stranded on shore for 5 days after being flipped in a skiff. With wet clothes and no food the 61 year old survived on seaweed, grasses and puddle water until rescued. The spouse who was also in the skiff never made it to shore.

A reminder to me that things can go bad very, very quickly out there, we all need to keep that in mind when on the water.

Which brings me to our new wet weather and safety gear...

Taking a page out of the Clubhouse playbook we've upgraded from the old floater suits to brand new Helly Hansen outdoor gear...it looks Fantanstic!

For floatation Kaili sports the new Mustang bro's...

What can I say, high fashion, comfort and safety combined...how do you beat that?

After a great day on the water and a fun fishing trip you might want to take something home for yourself or to appease a spouse you've just abandoned for 5 days to hang out with your "buds". If so Justine has finished setting up the store with all sorts of great new "stuff". But in the future the first decision you need to make when booking with WCFC is...

Don't panic its a trick question...as long as you choose one you get an A+...its a no lose situation.

So much fun stuff...this is the woman's section (remember I mentioned abandoned spouses?)...

Maybe something cuddly for a child you'll bring here in a few years...

I know what Eddie the Eagle wants...

He wants to visit our friends in Panama. Don't worry Eddy I'll take you down as a gift to Tobey in the fall and you can sink your claws into something like this...

..."come on now, reel it in Kennyb, thats stepping over the line."

I think I just quoted Todd McIntyre, it must be late.
