The Outpost Fishing Reports
OP Report: Starting Line! – June 19, 2019

Welcome to the start of the OP summer fishing season. With a refreshed crew and ample time to get setup this season, we are hitting the ground with speed.
Setup sped by like a rocket this year, with new guides Clay, Rob and Rob coming in to help us out with getting the forges fired. OP veterans Butcher and Nat were here to lead the way in an especially thorough start up.
Joining us this season for some rockstar appearances are Dougie and Rita. Always good to get help from some steady hands
With early season kicking off at The Clubhouse with vigor, we were eager to get out and test the waters. Early scouting missions had us scratching our heads but the break came when on day one of the season, when the vets led the charge back out to the Head. Tian was firing and the crew had what can only be described as an “ monster” first day on the water.
Lars Fredborg started the trip off with a 29lber, setting the bar for the first day. First day halibut fishing was on fire as well, with perfect turkey halibut hitting the dock between 25-50lbs.
Day 2 brought more good action at Tian, as the orcas were out in numbers and the Chinook did not disappoint. We saw a 28 by Robert Dyck, a 30 by Ron Wratschko, a 31 by Todd Kralik and a beautiful 33lb release by Eric Metzler.
Mike Westover and Eric Metzler celebrating a nicely landed double header.
Butcher started off the season with his first deciding victory at the KRUD table.
Bradan with returning guests Grant Chernick and Ted Wenner.
Newly acquired Hippa guide Clay Johnston clearly had no trouble helping Trip leader Kim McRae locate the Lings
Currently we have the gents from Oregon Chains here enjoying the lodge to themselves. After a year at the CH, they decided they liked the solo vibe of Port Louis and have returned to enjoy the peace the OP can offer.
Day one’s weather was a little incremental, but day 2 brought better weather and better fishing.
That’s all for now, stay tuned for another update coming soon.
Cheers
