OP Report: Skip Across the Mill Pond ~ July 6, 2017

July 7, 2017

Skip Across the Mill PondJuly is here and with it we see some of the first signs of summer. It is the little things in life that make the season memorable. Welcoming back long time friends, making genuine personal connections…and checking the national weather buoy data and seeing 1.9kt winds gusting to 3kts. Oh how the little joys of life can brighten even the most overcast horizon. When we left you last, we welcomed back Ross Freeman and his crew of top dog doers.

Along with their crew we also had a very warm welcome for former OP manager and fishing star extrordinaire Kenneth Ross Beatty. Joined again by prolific CRIB mastermind David Beatty, the pair wasted no time getting down to the business at hand

Along with Rock Star fill in former Head Guide Benny “ Many Names” Russell, the duo spent a considerable effort in the pursuit of monster springs and CRIB domination

All the while back at the fort Rachel was busy taking a heart stopping KRUD final against serious guest contender Cary Gosselin. Gary showed exceptional poise and patience for a first time player.

It was close, but in the end it was female domination with the ladies taking 3 of the top 4 spots. And of course they let us all know

After a trip to the south we started to see some more action. Here is JR Ruiz-Sanchez getting a little action at the Lighthouse.Meanwhile Todd enjoyed his trip topping 30lb Chinook. Complete with coveted pin and MJ shades, he could have been looking for sponsorship.

It was great to have the group with us for the week and we hope to have them back again soon

Well I talked about sun, and with the arrival of long time return DELTA group, it delivered. Welcoming back the group headed by Tony Hii and Bruce Langereis, we were excited to meet a group of fresh recruits..They wasted no time with Bruce’s boat getting a claimed 13 fish the first afternoon.Day 2 was no different with half the crew heading south, and half staying closer to home. The bite was on in the south, and reports had the boys being swarmed within minutes of making the calls. That will teach you to mind the radio chatter.I caught up with the group later in the day in Danger bay and the bite was on.

Bruce and Mike Magee enjoying a little mooching time right by the rocks

Funny enough, just as I drove away, they hooked into this 25lber on the back rod.

Here is Sandra Cawley playing nice one right off the knuckle.

Time for the always classic B&W boat shot with Sandra, Steve Merritt and guide Carl

Meanwhile Bruce and Co. were back at the mooch game. And low and behold they were so busy even Bradan got to reel one in.

John Lucchesi could not help but get in the action showing off his southern prize

I bet you didn’t know we had Paul Blart, Mall Cop working here.

Here we have father and Son Caleb and Christian for there first time at the OP. Taking picture of the guys taking pictures. Classic. And back at the dock Dr. Suzuki showing off his latest catch. It is always great to have David back with us for the week. Like many of you, I grew watching him every week and to have him here is a true honour.

That is the report for now. I will update you on how all this beautiful weather and plentiful fishing fairs us next time. From the mythical millpond out in Port Louis that is surrounded by creatures that were born to fish.Take care.Jordan
