North Island Update: Release the Hounds!

July 7, 2011

It’s been a great week here at North Island. The Tyee’s , and number of releases, continue to grow. A cooler weather pattern hit us last week with a couple of days of strong S.E. winds reminding us we really are on the rugged west coast. Lots of soggy smiles as the guests still rolled in with good numbers after battling the conditions.

Here’s Ken Franko and guide Brent with their 46lb release. After I made a comment about the headband-hat combo Brent reminds me that “it’s not a fashion show out there”. A classic line from the guy who has been posting up big numbers again this year.

The “Rock dogs” have been getting their share and are getting a little bold for our liking. This tends to put Parry Pass a little higher on the list of options which is fishing extremely well… Just off our doorstep we’re seeing Cohoe Pt type numbers at times. I also heard the Cabbage Patch was “non-stop action” this afternoon.

I will end with a couple of photos taken from our Northern Paradise. Staffer Ruth Parkhouse gets photo credit for the fantastic Islander Reel shot.

Until next time!
