North Island Lodge Report: July 28, 2008

July 28, 2008

Mother Nature kicked up her heels for this one as South East winds made things a little difficult for 2 days. Not giving up, the Borton group pressed on and battled through some tough conditions. After all, General Hank Emerson joined them on this trip so there was no giving up.

During the heavy winds a couple of boats fishing Channel Reef were able to find fish but the weather window was small. Bart Hector managed to find a 40lber in a rather unusual location off Iplngenia Pt., better known as Coward’s Cove….So you just never know!

When the weather eased it was time to play catch up. These guys put in the hours to make up for lost time, working the usual spots and filling tags. Bill and Byron Borton both connected with Tyee at 30 and 31lbs and Sam McCoy found a 41lber. Coho were in good numbers off the Cabbage Patch and most guests managed to get into a few salmon.

It looks like a promising forecast and now that the barometer has stabilized things are starting to pick up.
