Another stellar week has past at North Island Lodge. Unbelievable weather and excellent fishing conditions. Herring bait balls bubbling at the surface. Orcas and humpbacks and eagles oh my. This never gets old! I was excited to see a long term guest and friend Bill Rich and his son up from Vancouver they had an excellent trip landing a healthy number of Chinooks.
(Bryce Aberg releasing a Chinook at Lacey Island)We also had the great pleasure of hosting a new group from Calgary's energy sector. A first time "fishing trip" for a number of them. A few had commented that they had no idea what to expect and the trip was truly far beyond their expectations. More than just a fishing trip we provide an environment where colleagues can enjoy the spectacular natural surroundings of Haida Gwaii void of everyday distractions of telephone calls and emails. While distractions do exist .. the only ones you have to worry about are the quick darting action of your rod tip as a massive Chinook salmon takes a swipe at your bait or a hump back whale exhaling as it surfaces just feet about away from your boat.

An excellent trip enjoyed by all and we look forward to seeing everyone again next season.
