Set-up is now complete and we just welcomed our first guests of 2011. The lodge looks great and the pieces have come together nicely.
Here’s a little peek at the new dry room upgrades and new HH suits ready for action.
Not sure what DJ is doing here with that T.V. and office chair? Executive seating and home theater perhaps?
The dock and lodge are looking good with our newly expanded helipad Pierre, Langara’s resident Heli Pilot is first to touch down, followed by a safety orientation for our staff.
With meetings done, names on the board and manifests in hand, we had a chance to unwind before the first chopper landed. So what do we do?...Go fishing of coarse.
Our 3 hour staff derby saw every boat with a few opportunities. I was out with guide Patrick and helicopter pilot Pierre and after a slow start at Boulder Bay we proceeded up to Cohoe Point were there were good numbers of Chinook in the 15-25lb range. We actually went three for three on a triple header and boated 5 Chinook total in short order, so I guess the reports were true.
Here’s the crew coming back from there days fishing. The smiles tell me they must have caught something.
Pastry Chef Mindy with her first ever salmon.
We are now in full swing with guests out fishing for 2011’s first outing. Everyone was suited up and out the door within an hour. One of the new staff asked me, “ are the guests always that excited to get out on the water”...I promptly replied. “They must have been listening to my report during brunch”.
We are expecting our Vancouver guests back to watch the hockey game shortly…A good year to have a new 50 inch plasma T.V. It’s going to be a good week here at North Island!
