North Island Lodge "Gallagher strikes back"
August 1, 2013 | 1038 Views
Long overdue update here from North Island Lodge. Between guiding over 10 hours a day on the water, maintaining my boat and keeping up to speed with all the guest catches has been difficult. There are simply so many fish around, its certainly feeling like the good old days at Langara Island.
July fishing remained very consistent through until the end of the month. The weather the last couple of days has been very windy from the North West. the good news is that there is always a calm place to fish at Langara Island and with that mostly fishing at Guinea and Boulder Bay. Its good to see steady action every time we head out on the water. No one is dissapointed with the fishing thus far in 2013.
We are eagerly anticipating the run of larger fish that are about to swim past the island. This could happen on any tide change and we are all eagerly anticipating the next run of fish.
Far too many “TYEES” to report … with our list of 40 + released Chinooks continually growing. I expect we will need more room on our board to record them all. Expert guides like Brent Gallacher make reporting a whole lot easier with their ability to consistently find trophy fish day after day. The incredible fishing we’ve experienced has something to do with it but catching and releasing THREE tyees in one day is certainly a worthy catch by his guest Sonna. Sonna Combs pictured below with a 44lb release at Gunia Point. (One of her three TYEES that day).
On another note … celebrating his 41’s birthday at North Island lodge our man DJ Shinduke. Langara Island Lodge, Clubhouse, North Island Lodge all gathered yesterday to celebrate this occasion. An all around great guy and very talented fisherman, DJ has lead the charge on the North Island dock for a number of years now. With his charismatic personality, quick wit and leadership abilities it is no wonder why we have the best guide crew on the coast. Happy Birthday DJ!
